My Birthday card...

So as most of you know my grandma is one of the most influential people in my life. I remember and relish in her stories and memories. I listen to what she says because I know she comes from a place of experience.  Her realm of wisdom is enormous. Her sense of humor is unique. Her wit is remarkably quick especially for her age.

So I get my birthday card in the mail. On my actual birthday... of course she mails it right on time. I can't wait to open it. I don't expect money or gift cards. She's an older lady on social security (I send her money and gift cards on her birthday). I can't wait to open it... because I can't wait to read what she wrote. I'm expecting some true wisdom... probably something she learned or realized when she turned 31.

The front of the car has a sunflower on it with a plaid background and has the words "A Special Birthday Wish" printed. The inside is pre-printed... "With very warmest wishes for a Happy Birthday". Ok here it comes... her words "Love Grandma".

What? Love Grandma? That's it? Are you kidding me? It was awesome. Maybe I needed to read between the lines. Maybe she was telling me to expect the unexpected. Maybe she was telling me 31 is just another number don't trip off it. Or maybe she was telling me something more important... something simple... that she LOVES me.

It was such a small significant moment. She's always teaching or showing me something.

I love her!
